Sri Thimmaraya Swamy Temple in Devanahalli taluk of Bangalore Rural district is one of the seven hills (Divyagiri, Brahmagiri, Nandigiri, Vishnugiri, Skandagiri, Gautamagiri, Kukkutagiri) of Nandi Kshetra, just like Tirumala. According to the legend of this temple, the saint “Shri Gautama Maharshi” established this “Chaturbuja Shanka Chakra Gadadari Sri Lakshmi Thimmarayaswamy”. The hill where this temple is located is also known as “Gautama Giri”. Also, there is a cave behind the temple, which is believed to be the cave where the saint “Shri Gautama Maharshi” stayed.
